(Whiskey and Lies #1)
by Carrie Ann Ryan
Sparks fly between a former cop-turned-bartender and his new innkeeper in the first installment of a Montgomery Ink spin-off series from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan.
Dare Collins is a man who knows his whiskey and women—or at least that’s what he tells himself. When his family decides to hire on a new innkeeper for the inn above his bar and restaurant, he’s more than reluctant. Especially when he meets the new hire. But he’ll soon find that he has no choice but to work with this city girl and accept her new ideas and the burning attraction between them.
Kenzie Owens left her old life and an abusive relationship behind her—or so she thought. She figures she’ll be safe in Whiskey, Pennsylvania but after one look at her new boss, Dare Collins, she might still be in danger, or at least her heart. And when her past catches up with her despite her attempts to avoid it, it’s more than her heart on the line. This time, it might mean her life.
4 Whiskey Secrets Stars on Goodreads
Whiskey Secrets is the first book in Carrie Ann Ryan’s Whiskey and Lies series. I’ve been wanting to try one of Carrie’s books for a long while now but didn’t really know where to start. When I saw she had a new series I decided to dive into this series and get a feel for her books.
Whiskey Secrets follows Dare Collins, he is the brother to Tabby from the Montgomery Ink series. Dare is a former cop and after a tragic event he turned his badge in and now owns and runs a bar.
Kenzie needs a new start and a small town is the ideal place for her to rebuild her life. She is hired by Dare’s parents to run the family Inn that just so happens to be attached to Dare’s bar.
Her life was hers—hers to live, hers to thrive within.
Difference of opinions start these two on rocky ground from the get go, but the distrust quickly turns to attraction and a relationship neither saw coming.
Overall, this was a good start to a spin off series. The secondary characters are what made this book for me. Dare’s brothers where great and I’m looking forward to what’s in store for the rest of them.
