Review: Beard In Mind by Penny Reid

Beard in Mind, an all new standalone in the bestselling, romantic comedy Winston Brothers Series by Penny Reid, is available NOW!

BIM-cover (2)

All is fair in love and auto maintenance.

Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually.

Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone’s favorite Winston Brother. But since his twin decided to leave town, and his other brother hired a stunning human-porcupine hybrid as a replacement mechanic for their auto shop, Beau Winston’s charmed life has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Shelly Sullivan is not nice and is never accommodating. Ever.

She mumbles to herself, but won’t respond when asked a question. She glares at everyone, especially babies. She won’t shake hands with or touch another person, but has no problems cuddling with a dog. And her damn parrot speaks only in curse words.

Beau wants her gone. He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life.

The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora’s box of complexity—exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity—and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean losing what matters most.

5 Beau in Mind Stars on Goodreads

Beau Winston is the good twin, the twin that did anything for anyone! Except when he meets Shelly Sullivan at the garage he owns with his brothers, he doesn’t know what to think of her. in fact he really dislikes her, for some reason and he can’t put his finger on it. Or maybe he liked her… He really wasn’t sure!

“Have you always been?”
“Yes. I’ve always been a gentleman.”
“You should make an exception for me.”
“You don’t want me to treat you like a lady?”
“I am not a lady.” “
You’re my lady.”
“Yes. I’d like to be yours.”

Shelly is one hell of a heroine, she is so unlike most that I instantly loved her. She has extreme OCD and for her family and herself she has moved to town to try and work on herself and get better.

“She wouldn’t be who she was now without her struggles. Life had shaped her, her fear had formed her, and I wouldn’t have her any differently.”

When these two interact the fire works go a flying! They have an insta-hate relationship that’s not really hate at all. I had such enjoyment reading their story and following them on their path. Beard in Mind was such a fun read, with laugh out load moments. But there were also parts that my heart just broke for Shelly.

The WINSTON BROTHERS series is one of my favorites by Penny Reid. Along with Shelly and Beau’s story there is a huge revelation that impacts all of the Winston’s I’m dying to get my hands on the next in the series!!
