Sugar Daddy (Sugar Bowl, #1)

Sela Halstead lost her innocence in a way that no sixteen-year-old should ever have to endure. She’s spent years trying to forget that night even while wondering about the identities of the monsters who brutalized her—until a telltale tattoo flashes across Sela’s TV screen. The incriminating ink belongs to Jonathon Townsend, the millionaire founder of The Sugar Bowl, a website that matches rich older men with impressionable young women. Obsessed with revenge, Sela infiltrates Townsend’s world, only to come face-to-face with a tantalizing complication: Beckett North, his charismatic business partner.

The tech mastermind behind The Sugar Bowl, Beck always gets what he wants, in business and in bed. And yet, for a man who’s done every dirty thing imaginable, there’s something about the naïve, fresh-faced Sela that sparks his hottest fantasies. Because with her, it’s not just about sex. Beck opens up to her in ways he never has with other girls. So why does he get the feeling that she’s hiding something? In a world of pleasure and power, the shocking truth could turn them against each other—or bind them forever.

Note: Sugar Daddy ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story continues in Sugar Rush and Sugar Free

3.5 Not as sugary stars as you would think on goodreads Read March 15 – 24th, 2016

I had great hope for this book. I have read Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury Hockey series and had enjoyed them but they weren’t on my 5 star lists. But when I read the blurb for this book I said to myself “Christ this sounds deadly!” But alas it wasn’t as great as I thought it would be and was a little disappointing in areas. The best part of the book was the last 25% where I could not put it down. Also just to warn you all it ends in a big cliffhanger! This and this alone, has me really looking forward to the second book in the series.

  1. I just heard about the hockey series from a friend who’s as obsessed as me with the Off-Campus series, so I was already looking into this author. But the plot of this book sounds so good. As soon as I saw the cover, I had to see what this one was all about. Nice review!

      1. Okay, so once I read the prologue, I did not stop reading and just finished the book. What a cliffhanger, huh? I already preordered book 2. I need it now! And it says book 2 ends with another cliffhanger and book 3 doesn’t come out until October. I’m dying to know what happens. I hope Sela gets her revenge. JT is such a piece of work. Clearly, he’s the same person he was in college. I’m so curious about Beck’s matching tattoo. I hope he wasn’t one of the guys.

  2. This isn’t my type of book, but I’m almost tempted to read it in honor of Bennett’s AMAZING author photo. Hands-down the best/most hilarious author photo I’ve seen to date. I’m so glad you included it in your review! (Sorry you didn’t enjoy the book, though.)

    1. Ah I’ll definitely read the next one. I read it about a month ago so I’ve kinda warmed a lot more to it now after thinking on it. I loved her other series. And yeah I agree love her author pic 😁

  3. Great honest review, I guess I’ll hold off awhile reading this one. So disappointing, because I loved her Wicked Horse Saloon books. But I’ll still add it to my TBR list for later. 🙂
