May New Releases: Sugar Daddy by Sawyer Bennett

Sugar Daddy (Sugar Bowl, Book #1) by Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: May 24th 2016

Sela Halstead lost her innocence in a way that no sixteen-year-old should ever have to endure. She’s spent years trying to forget that night even while wondering about the identities of the monsters who brutalized her—until a telltale tattoo flashes across Sela’s TV screen. The incriminating ink belongs to Jonathon Townsend, the millionaire founder of The Sugar Bowl, a website that matches rich older men with impressionable young women. Obsessed with revenge, Sela infiltrates Townsend’s world, only to come face-to-face with a tantalizing complication: Beckett North, his charismatic business partner.

The tech mastermind behind The Sugar Bowl, Beck revels in a life of sin and luxury. In business, he always gets what he wants; in bed, he’s done every dirty thing imaginable. And yet there’s something about the naïve, fresh-faced Sela that sparks his hottest fantasies. Because with her, it’s not just about sex. Beck opens up to her in ways he never has with other girls. So why does he get the feeling that she’s hiding something? In a world of pleasure and power, the shocking truth could turn them against each other—or bind them forever.

Sugar Daddy ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story continues in Sugar Rush, coming in August 2016!

Cheri on Top by Susan Donovan

Sun-drenched beaches, designer-label clothes, drop-dead-gorgeous boy-toys…all paid for with a series of high-risk real estate deals. That’s the lifestyle Cherise Newberry and her BFF Candy enjoy after leaving rural North Carolina for Tampa―until the market tanks and they lose everything. Cheri is surviving on Ramen Noodles and temp jobs when she gets a call from home to come back and run the family’s small-town newspaper. Just one catch: She’ll become the boss of her high school crush―and former brother-in-law―who might have the power to crush her all over again…

But Cheri is surprised to see how “bad boy” J.J. DeCourcy has grown into the hard-working and principled managing editor of The Bigler Bugle. Still, according to Cheri’s bitter sister, he’s not to be trusted. If Cheri’s going to co-exist at the with this sexier-than-ever man from her past, she needs to stay professional―and keep her distance ―even though he sets her on fire. When they’re handed the biggest news story in the town’s history, Cheri must trust J.J., even it means putting her life in danger.…and her heart on the line.

I Want Candy by Susan Donovan

Candace Carmichael was just getting used to the lavish life when everything went sour. Now the down-on-her-luck real estate agent is back in Bigler, North Carolina, jobless and illegally rooming with her her mother in a swank retirement community. All this makes her wonder why she ever considered her BFF Cheri’s invitation to move back home. Life in this small mountain town may not be as glamorous as the one she had in Tampa, but she knows a girl can’t be too choosy in this market. Besides, everyone’s happy to welcome Candy back—especially one handsome widower named Turner…

Turner has grown up to be one fine-looking piece of man candy—and looks even tastier in his sheriff’s uniform. Maybe that’s why she couldn’t resist kissing him when he pulled her over for a traffic violation. Even if a relationship was part of Candy’s business plan,  Turner would be off limits—he still wears his wedding ring, four years after his wife died. If falling in love too fast is a crime, Candy is soon guilty as charged and ready to be fingerprinted. But is she ready to lock away her dreams and hand Turner the keys to her heart?

Book Review: Miles Away by Addison Kline

Miles Away (Carrion, #1)

Miles Away (Carrion, #1) by Addison Kline

The mafia couldn’t kill him.
Prison couldn’t break him.
Going home threatens to do both.

Miles Capadonno has made some mistakes. Once part of the Capadonno crime family, he took the fall for another member of the crime family who once tried to kill him. At age 17, they put a contract out on Miles’ head for neglecting to complete a job. It was a matter of priority. Miles went to his dying mother’s side instead of picking up stolen merchandise from the ship yard. When you’re in with the Capadonno’s, whether you’re blood or sworn in, when they say jump you jump, when they say kill you kill. Ignoring an order is an offense of the highest degree. When they couldn’t kill him, they let Miles take the fall for another Capadonno family member. Now 15 years later, Miles is being released. He is ready to put his past behind him. There’s only one problem. There is still a contract on Miles’ head. This time, Miles is man enough to collect on owed debts, and he will not back down from the family that stabbed him in the back.

Leticia “Letty” Alves is a saucy Latina and Miles’ old high school girlfriend. She was only 16 when Miles was arrested, but she hasn’t stopped wondering about the boy who charmed her all those years ago. Now working as a nurse for a home health agency, Letty’s priorities are to take care of herself and her 18 month old son, Gabriel. But when Miles walks back into her life everything changes, and suddenly, the family that she had avoided all her life, is now breathing down her neck looking for Miles. Letty is no damsel in distress, though. She’s a fighter, and she never backs down from a challenge.

Sparks fly when Miles and Letty reunite. Can they put their differences aside to become one again? Can Miles set down his pride and accept the help and love that Letty can provide? Will Letty get over her resentment over being left so long ago when Miles was arrested? Only readers know for sure.

Welcome to Carrion, New Jersey, where the Capadonno’s call the shots. Miles was away for so long, but now the prodigal son has returned. One thing is for sure, the family business isn’t ready for a bastard like him.

3 Mafia Stars on Goodreads Read from March 08 to 10, 2016

I was so excited to read this book. For one the cover looked amazing and the blurb sounded fab!
I was a little disappointed by the whole thing if I’m being honest! It could have been so much better! The whole thing happens in less then a few days and the whole getting together so quickly was unrealistic and unbelievable in my opinion.

There was no the suspense and darkness and this is what was missing in this book.

In saying all this I would love to read about Knox’s story and if it was released I’d defiantly give it a read!

Also the blurb is incorrect and that irritated me!
“One thing that irritates me so far it that the blurb here on Goodreads is wrong. Letty was 17 and Miles was 18 when everything went down. Then it forwards to 17 years later!”

April New Release: When I’m With You by Harper Sloan

Nate:

It’s nearly impossible to be surrounded by love but not understand it. My parents, my sister, and just about everyone around us has no trouble accepting that love. To give your trust to someone else and believe they would die before hurting you. I’ve witnessed it—I’ve seen the power of it—but I’ve also seen the pain. Because for me, I’ve only loved someone I could never have, and my biggest fear is that by giving her my love, all I would do is ruin her. I should have tried harder, but I’m not sure I can because I only feel complete when I’m with her.

Emberlyn:

The only time I feel like I belong is when he’s near. His infectious smile warms me straight to my bones. Any insecurities I have vanish with just a wink from him. A sliver of his attention makes me feel invincible. But all it took was one drunken night of truths for me to lose everything I had begun to crave. Now, I’m not sure how to move on because I only feel complete when I’m with him.

He said I was too young. I said he was perfect. He said our families wouldn’t understand. I said we could weather any storm. He said he would ruin me. And he was right.

Books to TV: Shadowhunters

So who’s watching Shadowhunters? This is an American fantasy television series based on The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.

I myself was sad when they decided they weren’t going to make anymore of the movies. I thought the movie was ok and not the worst adaption of a book. Ok it could have been a hell of a lot better but still wasn’t the worst! I’ve been watching the series and although at the start was a little “eh this could be better!” I’ve grown to like it and will continue with it.

Its also been released that the show has been renewed for another season. Which is exciting.

So the first episode starts with Clary (Fray), who has just enrolled at Brooklyn Academy of Arts. On her eighteenth birthday, she learns that she is a Shadowhunter, a human born with angelic blood who protect humans from demons. That night, Clary’s mother, Jocelyn Fray, is abducted by a group of rogue Shadowhunters of “The Circle”. Their leader is Jocelyn’s husband Valentine Morgenstern. Although Clary has no idea any of this because her memory has been wiped by her mother to keep her safe. (Yeah looked how that worked out!)

With her mother missing, Clary turns to Luke, a person she trusted, only to seemingly be betrayed. Clary joins up with a band of Shadowhunters to save her mother and discovers powers she never knew she possessed. Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with the mysterious, narcissistic, and attractive Shadowhunter, Jace, and also her loyal and geeky friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

There are a few things that bother me. The girl who plays Clary, Katherine McNamara is a little annoying, but over the last few episodes she’s started to get less annoying thank god and has made the show a lot more watchable.

Over all, I’m enjoying the show and I can see them putting a lot of the books and the info in the books into the TV show.
